Keith Missel

Pastor Keith Missel shares a vision to lead First Baptist Church Aurora toward becoming an increasingly healthy and authentic community of worshipers who purpose to impact the region with the presence and power of God.

Throughout Pastor Keith's twenty years of ministry, he has shown a heart for God's Church to engage in worshipping as hearers of the Word. Pastor Keith excels in the area preaching (click here to hear sermons)! He has earned a bachelors, a masters, and a doctoral degree which better enable him to handle and make relevant the Word of God. Pastor Keith also leads God church well, as he is a strategic visionary, bringing to fruition many ministries from their inception. Further, Pastor Keith has a heart for God's people. Pastor Keith loves to grab a latte or lunch with members of our church to simply "update" about their spiritual journeys!

Pastor Keith came to First Baptist Church Aurora in December of 2003.
Pastor Keith has extensive missions experience serving in partnerships for nearly a decade in the Dominican Republic and five years in Romania. Recently, he launched a partnership with the IMB (International Mission Board, part of the Southern Baptist Convention) in West Africa to share the gospel among the Bambara of Mali.

Pastor Keith also strongly believes in "empowering leadership," by creating ministry teams with members who can together do ministry well. This conviction is seen throughout our church's ministry, as it has been championed by Pastor Keith since his arrival at First Baptist. He believes that God has created each of us, as members of His Body, with certain strengths and growth areas. Thus, ministry teams with 4-5 people, with each member having different gifts, past experiences, and unique types of personalities, are better equipped to lead ministries well, to the Glory of God.

Pastor Keith also has a passion to see every believer become a spiritual reproducer. One of his primary goals for First Baptist Church is to share Christ from the model of Jesus in Acts 1:8. He believes sharing Christ should begin in our own Jerusalem, but also expand to Judea, Samaria and to the ends of the earth.
