Upward Basketball

Upward is First Baptist's primary sports ministry designed for children, both boys and girls, 4 years old through 6th grade.  Our goal is to promote character development and self-esteem in every child, teaching them that in Christ "Every Child is a Winner." While our church dreams of offering Upward cheerleading, soccer, or flag football in the future, we currently offer Upward Basketball each Winter together with Faith Baptist Church of Streetsboro, with the season beginning each year during the first full week of January. Children participate in one weeknight practice each week for 9 weeks and 8 Saturday morning games during the season.

Please know that Upward is designed to be so much more than the children's basketball league you may have experienced in the past, as Upward's unique features include:

• Equal playing time for each participant
• No official league standings/team records
• Evaluations of each player with the goal of drafting equal teams
• Trained officials and coaches
• An Upward t-shirt and reward stars earned by every child every game
• A high-quality upward reversible mesh jersey
• An end-of-the-year award night where each child is recognized and awarded
• Support of Upward Unlimited, which helped churches serve more than 550,000 children in 2,400 leagues all over the United States last year
